The president of BJP's Delhi unit, Manoj Tiwari, on Sunday amped up the attack against Delhi polls competitor Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) with a new video targeting the water quality in Delhi, with the caption 'Rinkiya Ne Khol Di Pol'.

Tiwari took to Twitter to post BJP's promotional video, aimed at criticising AAP's developmental commitments in Delhi. He captioned it 'Rinkiya Ne Khol Di Pol' in Hindi, which roughly translates to 'Rinkiya reveals their hypocrisy'.

In the video, a mother-daughter duo can be seen in a house when the father calls on the phone to chastise their young daughter for buying mineral water every day. The father specifically mentions that the family cannot afford to buy mineral water every day since they are 'Aam Aadmi' (common man). To this, the daughter replies by saying that there are no options other than to buy water since tap water is dirty and undrinkable.

She also sends a photo of the tap water to her father on WhatsApp, where it can be seen that the water is extremely dirty. To this, the father loudly exclaims that it truly looks like 'gutter ka paani' or drain water. Thereafter, the girl proceeds to state that a survey has ranked the water in Delhi as one of the worst in India, even though Kejriwal has been comparing the water quality in Delhi to Europe. The father then realises the problem and vows to not for Arvind Kejriwal this time.

Notably, a Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) study in November of last year actually ranked Delhi to be the lowest in terms of water quality among all capital cities in the states.

According to the BIS study, Mumbai ranks the highest in the quality of water among capital cities in states where samples of tap water were tested. In Mumbai, all 10 samples of tap water passed the BIS test. Second in the list in Hyderabad, where only one sample failed. However, at the bottom of the list is Delhi, where all 11 samples failed the BIS test — thereby reaffirming that the capital city has the poorest water quality, the BIS study put.

Delhi Assembly elections will be held on February 8 while counting of votes will be conducted on February 11. The ruling AAP is locked in a triangular contest with the BJP and the Congress but is favourite to retain the Union Territory.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had on Friday announced candidates for 57 assembly seats.

Earlier, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) announced the list of candidates for all 70 seats. Among its key candidates, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will contest from his current constituency of New Delhi while his deputy Manish Sisodia will again contest from Patparganj.
