The resignation of Madras High Court Chief Justice VK Tahilramani has been accepted, according to news agencies.
According to reports, Justice V Kothari has been appointed as the acting Chief Justice of the Madras High Court.
Reports further said that Tahilramani had tendered her resignation on September 6, which is the date from which the accepted resignation has come into effect.
The Supreme Court Collegium had on August 28 recommended the transfer of Justice Tahilramani to Meghalaya High Court. She resigned after the Collegium declined her request for reconsidering the transfer request.
The Collegium had earlier hit out against media reports questioning their decisions to transfer out judges of various High Courts and said that if the need so arises, it will not hesitate from disclosing reasons for the “transfer” orders.
