Reprobe ordered in mosque demolition case against Jindal firm

A local court on Thursday directed the police to reinvestigate the case against a Jindal Group firm for allegedly demolishing a 16th century mosque to facilitate mining operations in Bhilwara district in Rajasthan.

The court of the chief judicial magistrate in Bhilwara gave the direction while disposing of complaints lodged by two locals alleging that police investigation carried out in the case against Jindal Saw Limited had not been done properly.

According to the FIR lodged against Jindal Saw Limited, the company had allegedly paid Rs 65 lakh to the Anjuman Committee of Pur in Bhilwara district to buy the mosque and demolished it on April 19, 2012 for mining purposes.

The court gave direction to Pratap Nagar police station to reinvestigate the case and submit a progress report before the court within a month.
