Legendary cartoonist RK Laxman, well-known for his 'common man' cartoons, turned 90 today and was greeted by friends and fans at his residence here.Seated on a wheel chair and surrounded by his family members, Laxman welcomed a steady stream of well-wishers, who included noted jurist Ram Jethmalani. Some city-based artistes even drew cartoons for Laxman, who became emotional as he watched them.A cake was cut to celebrate the birthday of the artiste, who has regaled generations with his brilliant satire, lampooning politicians through the 'common man' caricature.Laxman has been undergoing speech therapy, since he suffered a series of paralytic strokes in the recent past.
