The scheme being implemented by RSP is based on the basic premise that the employees are the best persons to bring about improvements in the area in which they are working, a senior RSP official said.

Hence they are motivated to think creatively about improving the systems and enhancing the performance of their respective units, he said.

For this they are being given awards in cash as well as token gifts. The Plant for its part earns rich dividends by implementing these suggestions. It becomes a total win-win situation for both the organization and the employees.

It is noteworthy that since its institution in 1989-90, the Srujani - Creativity Award Scheme has successfully harnessed the creative potential of the employees in improving the performance of the plant in every field of endeavour right from production, productivity, techno-economics and streamlining of systems to safety, housekeeping and environment protection.

In 2013-14, an all-time record number of 13,678 suggestions were received from the employees out of which 5,602 have already been implemented. A major highlight of the last financial year was the number of quality suggestions received that helped in achieving a record one-time saving of Rs 27.93 crores and recurring saving of Rs 22.44 crores. In recognition of this impressive achievement the employees were presented with cash award of Rs 13.48 lakhs.

For the first time in 2013-14, employees of RSP located at New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata also participated in Srujani Melas. To create awareness among new employees joining the organisation and also to commemorate 25 years of implementation of Srujani Scheme in RSP, colourful banners and posters were displayed in key and strategic locations in the organisation.
