Bharatiya Bhasha Suraksha Manch (BBSM) convener and rebel RSS leader Subhash Velingkar launched his own political party, the Goa Suraksha Manch Party, on Sunday. The party will contest in the 2017 state elections.

The launch of the party came without waiting for Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party's (MGP) response on the proposal of alliance with BBSM. "We can't wait till October end for the response from MGP. If MGP agrees at a later stage, then we (BBSM) as a party can think of having seat-sharing agreement with them. Right now we had a proposal to fully support them," Velingkar said on Friday.

The BBSM decided to be in the electoral fray to oppose the ruling BJP in Goa after the ruling party refused to withdraw grants to English medium schools. The RSS had recently relieved its Goa Vibhag Sangh Chalak Velingkar, who has now formed a parallel outfit called RSS Goa Prant. Velingkar had earlier announced the BBSM would be floating a political party on October 2. The BBSM has been agitating demanding regional languages as Medium of Instruction in states elementary education.

Shiv Sena in Goa also said it was in discussion with BBSM to form an alliance for Assembly election in the state next year.
