The re-poll was ordered on the basis of reports filed by observers.

The re-poll will take place at polling stations in Muzaffarnagar, Badaun and Firozabad parliamentary constituencies after charges of booth capturing and rigging were investigated at some polling stations during the five phases of polling in the state.

Firozabad and Budaun are seats from where two members of Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Mulayam Singh Yadav - Akshay and Dharmendra Yadav are contesting. Both are nephews of the SP chief.

An Election Commission official said the votes polled in these booths has been declared null and void under the Peoples Representation Act - 1951.

Opposition parties, specially the Bharatiya Janata Party and Bahujan Samaj Party, had accused the ruling SP of booth capturing and bungling in the poll process in these constituencies.
