Ravivari, the informal Sunday market held under the Ellisbridge, will now get a new address. For, the AMC standing committee has proposed to come up with the informal market in an area from Sardar bridge to Vivekanad bridge.

The work is proposed under the AMC standing committee's Rs3,711 crore budget which was presented on Thursday by standing committee chairperson Asit Vora. The new Ravivari, under the Sabarmati Riverfront project, is being planned for hundreds of hawkers who at present operate from under Ellisbridge.

In the budget, the standing committee also scrapped the 18% increase in general tax on property bill proposed by municipal commissioner IP Gautam.  Gautam had proposed to increase general tax for non-residential buildings from Rs22 per square metre to Rs26 square metre. Vora said that at a time when inflation is touching new high, it would be unfair to impose more tax on the citizens.

In the budget, the standing committee has put up a proposal to come up with an additional connecting armto the Shahibaugh underpass.

Vora said that they have been receiving complaints of traffic jam at Shahibaugh under pass and so have decided to allocate Rs3 crore to add one more road from Subhash bridge to Shahibagh underpass. 

Vora has alo proposed to come up with a bridge from Nehru bridge to Nagri hospital.
