Ravi Shankar Prasad asks for Rahul Gandhi's apology in Cambridge Analytica data usage case

Using Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg's apology to the United States Senate for having failed to protect users' private date from being misused by private parties, the BJP on Wednesday asked Congress president Rahul Gandhi to apologise to the nation in the interest of 'probity'. BJP has so far maintained that the Congress had used Cambridge Analytica's services in India.

Union Information and Telecom Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad took to Twitter saying that Cambridge Analytica's role in manipulating elections was clear and Facebook had given assurance "to stop it and maintain integrity of India's elections".

"Now that Cambridge Analytica's role in manipulating elections is clear & Facebook has assured to stop it and maintain integrity of India's elections, probity demands that Rahul Gandhi should apologise & promise not to manipulate voters and divide the society in future!" the minister tweeted.

On Tuesday, Zuckerberg had apologised to the US Congress and took personal responsibility for 'not doing enough' to protect Facebook's users' private data from being misused and manipulated. There have been allegations that Cambridge Analytica data has been used by parties in India too.
