CHENNAI: The CPI-M's Tamil Nadu unit on Tuesday warned the UPA government at the Centre against succmbing to the pressure of the "communal forces" and give up the Sethusamudram project.

It was shocking to note that the Centre, instead of evincing more interest in speedy implementation of the project, had sought three months time from the Supreme Court to reconsider the issue, State CPI-M Secretary N Varadarajan said in a statement.

He said the BJP and other 'communal forces' had taken up an "illusionary issue of Ram Setu" and had made a big issue of the affidavit submitted by the Centre.
