This was Kovind’s first At Home in the Rashtrapati Bhawan. 

While Modi was the cynosure of all eyes, United States Chargé d’Affaires in New Delhi MaryKay Carson won hearts by wearing a tassar saree to the event. 

She had worn a Kanjeevaram saree for the Independence Day celebrations at the Red Fort as well. 

In a series of tweets in the evening, she shared that she was wearing a tassar saree for the ‘At Home’ event at the Rashtrapati Bhavan. 

She later also shared a picture of her in the saree while she exchanged greetings with President Ram Nath Kovind.

Tassar, she said, had finished second on the Twitter saree poll that she has posted earlier.

Pakistan’s Acting High Commissioner Syed Haider Shah and wife Palwasha Haider also attended the grand event, as did many other Ambassadors.
