"The steps which should have been taken to unravel the mystery of Netaji's disappearance were not taken by Congress regimes since independence. But Prime Minister Narendra Modi had taken a historic step by announcing that all the documents related to his disappearance would be declassified. It is the commitment of Narendra Modi government," Singh said two days before the 119th birthday of the nationalist leader who went missing after an air crash at Taiwan in 1945.

"The previous Congress governments didn't take steps to unravel the mystery of Netaji's disappearance. We know his birthday but we don't know what happened to him," Singh said.
