Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday said that his ministry has had no role to play in the arrest of Delhi Law Minister Jitender Singh Tomar.

"The Home Ministry does not do such things. The law will take its own course. There is no question of the home ministry interfering in such matters," Rajnath Singh said. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) had earlier in the day alleged that Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung, the Delhi Police and the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led NDA Government at the Centre were trying to 'scare' the city's government by using court cases and arrests.

"Was this arrest made to create pressure? The LG, the Delhi Police and the Prime Minister Modi-led government are trying to scare us by court cases and jail," AAP leader Sanjay Singh had said. Tomar was arrested by Delhi Police this morning and taken to the Hauz Khas police station in connection with a fake degree row. He had been facing allegations of submitting forged education certificates while filing his nomination for the Delhi Assembly polls.
