A year after his announcement of entering politics, superstar Rajinikanth continues to maintain suspense on the launch of his political party, even as the Lok Sabha election is only a few months away.
After keeping his fans guessing for over two decades, Rajinikanth on December 31 last year, declared his intent to enter politics by launching his own political party to usher in secular and spiritual politics. He had said that he will contest all seats in the 2021 Assembly polls in Tamil Nadu.
For his fans, the suspense did not end there. After converting his fans clubs into Rajini Makkal Mandram (Rajini People's Forum), the actor-turned-politician did not take the next steps towards launching his party even after appointing office bearers from district to booth level.
Rajinikanth, who has left for US ahead of Christmas and New Year celebrations, is expected to return in the first week of 2019 for the promotion of his forthcoming movie, Petta, which is releasing on Pongal – January 15, 2019. The actor was also in talks with AR Murugadoss for a new film.
Former Congress leader Tamilaruvi Manian, who is an adviser to the actor, said that only after the actor's return from US, will the decision on the launch of the political party and on contesting Lok Sabha polls would be known.
