Rajasthan: Section 144 imposed in 11 districts of state, no religious gatherings till October 31

Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Saturday decided to impose Section 144 of the CrPC in 11 districts of the state amidst rising COVID-19 cases.

According to the official notification released by the Rajasthan government, Section 144 has been imposed in Jaipur, Jodhpur, Kota, Ajmer, Alwar, Bhilwara, Bikaner, Udaipur, Sikar, Pali and Nagaur districts.

The decision was taken in a review meeting chaired by CM Gehlot. The meeting was attended by Health Minister Raghu Sharma, Chief Secretary Rajeeva Swarup, Principal Secretary (Home) Abhay Kumar, Principal Secretary (Medical and Health) Akhil Arora and other officials.   

Moreover, it has also decided to impose a ban on social or religious functions till October 31.

However, 20 people have been permitted to attend funeral and 50 for marriage functions.

India's COVID-19 case tally crossed 54-lakh mark with a spike of 92,605 new cases and 1,133 deaths in the last 24 hours, according to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Sunday.

The total case tally stands at 54,00,620 including 10,10,824 active cases, 43,03,044 cured/discharged/migrated and 86,752 deaths, the Ministry said.

However, India has surpassed the United States (US) to record the most number of COVID-19 recoveries across the world, said the data released by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. India's COVID-19 recovery rate stands at 79.28%.
