Jaipur Police on Tuesday booked minister of state for khadi & rural industries, Babu Lal Nagar, for allegedly raping a married woman. The FIR was filed against the minister on a court directive to the Sodala police, which registered a case under section 376 (rape) and 323 (punishment for voluntary causing hurt). The police have now forwarded the case to CID (crime branch) for further investigation in the matter.
Additional chief judicial magistrate (no.9) gave the order while hearing a complaint filed by the victim, a resident of Ajmer Road. The woman reportedly came in contact with the minister when he helped her daughter get admission to a school.
The victim in her complaint alleged that on 11th September, Nagar telephoned her and asked her to meet him at his residence. The victim, thereafter, reached Nagar’s official residence at Civil Lines at 5 pm.
Nagar allegedly spoke to the woman for one hour and offered to provide a job to her or any relative of hers. Having spoken to her for nearly an hour, the minister allegedly shut the door of the room from inside. When the woman objected to his move, Nagar allegedly beat her up.
In her complaint, the woman said that Nagar even bit her that has left a mark.
Nagar then allegedly raped the woman, however, an intercourse could not occur as the woman reportedly fought him. The woman has claimed that her clothes bear the stains of the minister’s ejaculation.
According to the complaint, Nagar threatened the woman with dire consequences if she informed anyone about the incident. The woman alleged in the complaint that Nagar threatened her saying if she narrated the incident to police or anyone, then she would also vanish like Bhanwari Devi. Nagar reportedly threatened to have her son murdered if she told anyone about the incident.
“The court directive reached Sodala police on Tuesday and at 5.15 PM we registered a case under section 376 and 323 of IPC. We have forwarded the same to CID (CB) for investigation as laid under the law,” said Bhawani Singh, SHO Sodala police station.
