At least three different delegations of Congress volunteers from Rajasthan reached the All India Congress Committee headquarter in New Delhi on Saturday to voice their dissent against the probable party candidates from their area. The Congress screening committee is scheduled to review its first list of Assembly candidates in Rajasthan on Sunday. It was the delegation's last attempt to register their concern ahead of the meeting.

The groups which visited the party office included one from Chittorgargh district who objected to inclusion of a particular candidate, and the second group from Civil Lines constituency of Jaipur demanded ticket for a candidate from Brahmin Community. The party district president from Jaipur and former MLA from Civil Lines Pratap Singh Khachariywas said the protest was sponsored by the BJP. "Those who are protesting outside party office cannot be a wellwishers of the party. The BJP has been using money to promote such acts, but people will not get diverted," said Khachariyawas.

The first list of Congress candidates for Rajasthan assembly elections is anticipated shortly. The number of such delegations from state visiting the party national headquarter thus continues to increase each day. The party to have received more than two dozen applications on most seats has a task at hand to keep the outfit united once tockets are distributed.

"Candidates will be selected on their winning potential and priority will be given to local candidate and other factors. Such demonstrations are irrelevant," said a senior Congress leader.

It has been for couple of weeks now that Congress screening committee is holding a list of nearly 80 'most probable' candidates and it includes sitting MLAs and prominent leaders from the state. A formal declaration of the names will take bit more time as the party's is further weighing the pros and cons.

Even as party leaders deny impact of such demonstrations, party national president Rahul Gandhi is well aware of them.
