JAIPUR: The Rajasthan Police on Tuesday could not obtain from a court here non-bailable arrest warrant against Orissa DGP B B Mohanty, who has been accused of helping his son, convicted of rape, jump parole.

Superintendent of Police (East) V K Singh said that they sought a non-bailable arrest warrant from the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate's court here but could not obtain it since the court was going through the earlier documents including proceedings before the Orissa High Court and the Supreme Court.

He said he expected the warrant to be issued on Wednesday.

A team of the Rajasthan Police is ready to proceed to Orissa to arrest the DGP and bring him here in connection with a case registered at Lal Kothi police station on January 10 for allegedly helping his son Biti, he said.

Since the deadline set by the Supreme Court not to arrest Mohanty upto 6 weeks from April 9 had expired on Monday, the police sought a fresh warrant against him.
