Most of the areas in South Gujarat region received ample rainfall in the past 48 hours. However, nominal rains were recorded in Surat district on Sunday. Valsad city recorded 204 millimetre of rain in the past 24 hours, while Jalalpore taluka in Navsari received highest 103 mm rain. Surat city recorded only 5 mm rains on Sunday.

Continuous rains have disrupted normal life in all areas of the South Gujarat. In many talukas of the region, rains started from Saturday morning and continued till late on Sunday evening.

Water accumulated at various places especially in villages, while water levels of rivers passing through Navsari and Valsad districts rose considerably due to non-stop showers. Few villages in Dharampur and Kaprada talukas of Valsad and Waghai of Dangs became inaccessible after check-dams on these routes came under river waters.

Valsad taluka received maximum 204 mm of rains. Rainfall in other talukas recorded were Dharampur (71 mm), Pardi (135 mm), Kaprada (81 mm) and Umargaon (74 mm).

There were non-stop rains in Navsari district as well, with all five talukas recording good downpour. In the past 24 hours Navsari recorded 100 mm rainfall while Chikhli 73 mm, Jalalpore 110 mm, Gandevi 103 mm and Vansda had 70 mm rains. There were no rains recorded in Dangs on Sunday.
