In a bid to connect areas on the Indo-Nepal border with rest of the country and facilitate movement of passengers and tourists, railway has resumed movement of trains on Gorakhpur-Nautanwa route.
    
The 81km stretch of the metre gauge track on Gorakhpur-Nautanwa route of North Eastern Railway was being converted to broad gauge and the work was completed by October 15, CPRO NE Railway Amit Singh said.
    
The conversion work, which began in December 2008 was scheduled to be completed in April this year at an estimated cost of Rs381.17 crore, he said.
    
The areas on the border will be connected directly to Delhi and other important stations, Singh said.
