"At a time when the entire country is boosting the morale of our Army, this statement comes as an insult to the Army," Rupani said on the sidelines of an event in Rajkot on Saturday.

He said Rahul made this statement out of desperation and it showed "his childish nature and his jealousy of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi."

"In the 1971 war against the neighbouring country, when Indira Gandhi was the Prime Minister, our leader Atal Bihari Vajpayee supported the Congress government," he said, adding that politicians cutting across party lines should get united and support the NDA government over the surgical strike in Pakistan-Occupied-Kashmir.

A couple of days ago, Rahul Gandhi had hit out at the Prime Minister accusing him of "hiding behind the blood of soldiers" and said Modi was selling off their sacrifices for political benefit.
