After his interaction with Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) students last Tuesday, Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi is set to visit other universities and colleges across the country.

As in-charge of Youth Congress and National Students Union of India (NSUI), the Amethi MP has been spearheading the campaign for building a youth cadre for the Congress.

Sources said Rahul’s next stop could be Delhi University (DU). “Unlike JNU, where it has a limited presence, student politics in DU is dominated by NSUI. However, in the past two elections, the union did not have a memorable experience in DU. We want to regain lost ground,” the sources said.

NSUI national general secretary Anand Pandey confirmed Rahul Gandhi would visit more universities in future to discuss politics and policy issues.

“Rahul ji takes issues relating to the youth seriously. He was very happy with the interaction with JNU students despite some hostile questions and said he’d like to meet students more often. He will visit more universities and colleges,” Pandey, a JNU student, said.
