Making Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi the centre of its attack, BJP on Wednesday said he should be more specific in his comments during the Uttar Pradesh election campaign and clarify what he means by a "model state", mafia-rule and constitutional status to Lokpal.Without naming Gandhi, BJP spokesperson Rajiv Pratap Rudy said the Congress general secretary has often said that he wants to bring about a change in Uttar Pradesh but has not specified the parameters."What would be his parameters? Which is the model state he would like to replicate in Uttar Pradesh? Whether it is Andhra Pradesh, which is burning over Telangana, or Rajasthan where the government is surrounded by controversies? We are not able to get an answer," he said. The BJP MP maintained that when BJP talks about development, it refers to states like Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Bihar where it is in power and has been successful.Upping the ante, Rudy said to learn about development the Congress leader visits the homes of "Lilavatis, Kalavatis" but the BJP would like to know where one has to go to understand corruption."There has been no comments from him on this. We have definitely not heard from him on this. We are not able to understand why," Rudy said. The Rajya Sabha MP also maintained that Gandhi should explain what he means by giving Constitutional status to Lokpal. "CAG is also a constitutional body but its report stating there was Rs 1.76 Lakh Crore loss was declared as just nothing by union minister Kapil Sibal," Rudy said.

Rudy insisted that even on the appointment of P J Thomas as CVC, another constitutional body, the Prime Minister himself tried to brush the issue under the carpet despite Leader of Opposition Sushma Swaraj's objection."Even the Election Commission is a constitutional body. When a member of the family (a reference to Robert Vadra) was stopped from riding a bike by a young IAS officer appointed by the Election Commission, he was transferred. Was the family member wrongly stopped or was the officer wrongly transferred. We would like to know," Rudy said. The BJP also took digs at the Congress leader for his statements that the party is concerned about the welfare of old people."The Congress government ordered teargassing and lathi-charge of Ramdev supporters at midnight. Rajbala, an old woman, died due to her injuries.... Anna Hazare, at this age, was arrested when he was coming out of his house. What is the Congress leader's (Rahul's) definition of welfare of the old," Rudy said. The BJP alleged that while Rahul Gandhi has rued that for the last 22 years "goondas" have ruled in UP, Congress had supported the Mulayam Singh Yadav government from 2005-07."Letters of support to the UPA government from the same parties about which he is talking are there with the President of India," Rudy said.
