NEW DELHI: DMK MP, V Radhika Selvi, who was inducted in the Union council of Ministers, was on Friday allocated the portfolio of Minister of State in the Home Ministry.

Selvi, first time MP from Tiruchendur in Tamil Nadu, was administered the oath of office and secrecy by President A P J Abdul Kalam at a brief function in the Durbar Hall of Rashtrapati Bhawan.

The ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, his cabinet colleagues and relatives of the new minister.

"As advised by the Prime Minister, the President has directed that V Radhika Selvi be allocated the portfolio of Minister of State in the Ministry of Home Affairs," a Rashtrapati Bhavan communique said.

Her induction follows developments in the DMK which arised in the wake of the resignation of Dayanidhi Maran from the Cabinet.
