A 22-year-old Dalit youth, who was allegedly involved in illegal liquor trade, was brutally killed and his leg chopped off allegedly by a rival group of liquor smugglers in the district.

A case of murder has been registered against six persons and one of the accused is also a Dalit.

According to Indian Express, the body Sukhchain Singh Pali was found on Monday night. The victim's family has refused to cremate the body until the chopped off limb is found and the accused are arrested.

Sukhchain's father in his complaint has stated that his son was allegedly attacked by landlords of the village Amandeep, Balbir Singh and others, who are reportedly involved in liquor smuggling. 

“The rival group often threatened my son to give up the ‘business’,” father, Resham Singh told Hindustan Times.

The accused have been identified as Balbir Singh, Hardeep Singh, Amandeep Singh, Sadhu Singh, Babrik Singh and Sita Singh​.
