Pulwama attack: WION withdraws invitation to Pakistani speakers for Global Summit in Dubai

Originally, ex-Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf, Pakistan Minister of Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhary, former envoy to India Abdul Basit and former Foreign Secretary of Pakistan Salman Bashir were invited.

Taking a strong stance against Pakistan sponsored terror, which lead to the death of 40 CRPF jawans in Pulwama on Thursday, WION has decided to withdraw invitation to all Pakistani speakers for its Global Summit in Dubai. WION, part of the Essel family and DNA's sister channel in a statement said, 'the heinous attack has vitiated the atmosphere and any deliberation on collective prosperity with Pakistan is untenable.'"However, all other sessions in the Global Summit: South Asia edition will be held as per schedule. WION also unequivocally condemned the statements made by Fawad Chaudhary on the aftermath of the Pulwama terror attack.

 Originally, ex-Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf, Pakistan Minister of Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhary, former envoy to India Abdul Basit and former Foreign Secretary of Pakistan Salman Bashir were invited. But now those invites have been rescinded as 'tough times call for tough measures'. WION has stated that it is çommitted to presenting India's perspective to world' and  'that includes taking a stand against entities and individuals trying to hurt India.' 

WION also paid tributes to the martyrs and said that thoughts and prayers are with their families.
