Pulwama aftermath: Two suspected JeM terrorists from Kashmir arrested by UP ATS from Deoband

UP DGP said that they will seek the transit remand of the two terrorists to investigate what were intentions, target, their funding organisation and when they had come here from Kashmir.

Two alleged JeM terrorists arrested by UP ATS from Deoband

The Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) has nabbed two suspected terrorists from Kashmir affiliated to the terror organisation Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) from UP's Deoband in Saharanpur district. In a press conference addressed by the Director General of Police, OP Singh said that the two terrorists who have been arrested, one is a grenade expert and has been identified as Shahnawaz from Kulgam and the other one is Aquib Ahmad Malik from Pulwama in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K).

The UP DGP said that they will further seek the transit remand of the arrested terrorists to investigate what were their intentions, target, their funding organisation and when they had come here from Kashmir. The UP police is in touch with the J&K Police following this development. The terrorists were arrested following input from their ATS wing. 

The police further said that both the terrorists were recruiting members for the JeM. 

On being asked whether the two terrorists had any connection with the February 14 Pulwama attack, the DGP said that it was difficult at the moment to tell whether they came here before the Pulwama attack or after that. The probe is on. 

Speaking after UP ATS nabbed two suspected terrorists, UP Deputy Chief Minister KP Maurya said, "UP ATS has arrested 2 suspected JeM terrorists from Saharanpur and recovered arms and incriminating material from them. This is a message to the enemies of the nation that terrorists will not be able to hide anymore."
