A woman was run over by a speeding jeep near Balop village in Rajasthan's Bundi district, triggering protests by locals who pelted stones at the police and blocked the Bundi-Kota Highway.
40-year-old Hajari Bai was killed in the mishap last night following which infuriated villagers set the jeep on fire and broke windscreen of a Rajasthan Roadways bus, police said today.
The locals, who were demanding that a speed breaker be constructed on the highway, also pelted stones at the police.
The situation was brought under control after authorities assured the crowd that their demands would be looked into.
