Kalgi on Thursday surrendered in the court and managed to secure bail from the holiday court, even as the public prosecutor and police officials remained in the dark about it.

The police have alleged that they got the letter demanding their presence in court during the bail hearing only after the deadline for their appearance had passed.

The public prosecutor HN Joshi has alleged that they were not informed of the development and the hearing on the bail application. Moreover, they are yet to receive the notice sent by the court for the hearing on the bail application due to which they could not remain present in the court to object to the same.

Sources said Kalgi arrived in court with his advocate but no police official from the investigating team was present there at the time. Earlier, the court had sent a letter to the investigating officer asking him to be present before it by 4:30pm on Thursday. Strangely, the police received the letter at around 4:50pm.
