Probe demanded into Asaram Gurukul's affiliation

A complaint has been lodged with Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) against Asaram Gurukul for charging hefty amount from the students and also demanded an investigation into the affiliation of the school.

The Gurukul is run by controversial ashram of self proclaimed godman Asaram.
According to sources the school located inside the premises of Asaram Ashram on Khandwa Road offers education till standard 12th. It has about 400 students and charges an annual fee of Rs 30000-35000 from each student.  The total collection through fee is estimated about Rs 1.5 crore per year.

RTI activist Rajendra Gupta has lodged a complaint to CBSE chairman and said that the ashram has violated the lease terms according to which no construction was allowed on the land.

Gupta said that ashram had constructed building of the school which is illegal and it seems that on the basis of false information to the CBSE, Asaram’s ashram managed to get the affiliation.

"The affiliation seems to be obtained through fraudulent means in nexus with the officials. The ashram has violated the rules set for construction of building as well as use of land for running the school," said Gupta. 

"CBSE authorities should investigate into the affiliation of the school and the accounts of the school also. The school has nothing to do with charity or social responsibility," said Gupta.

District administration has already issued notice of the ashram for violation of lease terms, encroachment on government land and construction on the land coming in green belt without land diversion.
