Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be continuing his ongoing foreign tour with no change in the plan to cut short the visit after the death of BJP leader Arun Jaitley. Government sources said that the Prime Minister had spoken to Arun Jaitley's wife and son, and expressed his condolences. Both of them insisted that the Prime Minister should not cut short his ongoing foreign tour.

Paying homage to Arun Jaitley PM Modi in a tweet had said, "Arun Jaitley Ji was a political giant, towering intellectual and legal luminary. He was an articulate leader who made a lasting contribution to India. His passing away is very saddening. Spoke to his wife Sangeeta Ji as well as son Rohan, and expressed condolences. Om Shanti."

He said, "With the demise of Arun Jaitley Ji, I have lost a valued friend, whom I have had the honour of knowing for decades. His insight on issues and nuanced understanding of matters had very few parallels. He lived well, leaving us all with innumerable happy memories. We will miss him!"

The Prime Minister is on a three-nation tour of France, UAE, and Bahrain. He has already visited UAE and France on a state visit and is currently in Bahrain. He will again go to France on Sunday to participate in the 45th G7 summit, where India has been invited after ten years.
