President Pranab Mukherjee gives assent to the Whistleblowers Protection Bill, 2011

President Pranab Mukherjee has given his assent to the Whistleblowers Protection Bill, 2011.The Bill has provisions for setting up a regular mechanism to encourage persons to disclose information on corruption or wilful misuse of power by public servants, including Ministers.It also seeks to provide adequate protection to persons reporting corruption or wilful misuse of discretion which causes demonstrable loss to the government.The Bill was passed by the Parliament in the last Winter session.
