The next government in Bihar must accord top priority to poverty alleviation by providing houses to all poor households and quality education for their children, BJP said today.

"All of us (political parties) have been harping on development during campaigning for Bihar assembly polls .... Now we talk about the priorities of the next government and I suggest that poverty alleviation should be the foremost priority keeping in view the plight of poor people," BJP state unit president CP Thakur told reporters.

The poor have two major concerns - of a roof of their head and quality education for their children and attains a sense of social respectability if these two are achieved, he said.

Thakur expressed optimism that NDA would return to power in the state with a thumping majority. A wave was sweeping across the state in favour of the ruling coalition, he claimed.
