The forest department has arrested a poacher who has confessed to killing one tigress in the park. The tigress, identified as ST-5, was killed by the man in February this year.

DNA reports, based on reliable information, had earlier too mentioned that the tigress might have been poached.

It may be noted that two tigers from Sariska have now fallen prey to poachers. Recently, tiger ST11 was killed by a snare put by a farmer. Meanwhile, on Friday, the forest officials received information about a poacher and formed a team to nab the man. "We had received information from sources that a poacher was active in the area. He was identified as one Sarffuddin Meo, a native of Bhadoli village. The forest team raided his house and detained him with weapons. He was subjected to intense questioning wherein he confessed to poaching Tigress ST-5.

Furthermore, he has also confessed to getting Rs 20,000 as payment towards the same," said officials.

The man has also poached animals like Sambhar (deer) and blue bulls from the Sariska Tiger Reserve along with his friends. "The man was arrested and produced before the court. We have obtained a four-day remand of the accused during which he will be subjected to questioning to find out the network for which he is working and shot the tigress," officials said.

Meanwhile, the forest department has teamed up with the police and initiated a search for poachers associated with the man.
