The PMO reset the twitter account @PMOIndia for the 7 Race Course Road's new resident, Narendra Modi. Though the new @PMOIndia hasn't begun tweeting yet, it already boasts of over 2000 followers and counting at the time of writing.

By maintaining his current twitter handle @NarendraModi, Modi is expected to follow in the footsteps of the British and Japanese Prime Ministers, who both have two separate twitter handles, one in their personal capacity and the other run by their office staff.  It is not yet clear whether tweets from his personal account will come under the RTI act yet.

The BJP though has reacted against the move, in a quote to ANI they said, the outgoing team of the PMO has wrongly renamed the Twitter handle and the chance is against the laws and accepted global norms of handover of digital assets.
