Kejriwal lauded former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh saying people are missing an educated PM
In a politically significant statement, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday lauded former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh saying people are missing an educated PM.
Kejriwal, whose political career lifted off when he joined Anna Hazare-led anti-corruption movement against Manmohan government in 2011, was targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi over falling rupee.
In a tweet on Thursday morning, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief said, "People missing an educated PM like Dr Manmohan Singh. Its dawning on people now -“PM to padha likha hona chahiye” (sic) (PM should be an educated person)."
He also shared a Wall Street Journal report which said that rupee is the worst performing currency in Asia this year which points to uncertain future for investment in India. The rupee had strengthened over 6% in 2017 but over the past couple of weeks, the rupee has been depreciating sharply against the US dollar.
In the very next tweet, the AAP supremo attacked the BJP alleging that BJP is playing “dirty politics” with Delhiites over water.
“BJP playing dirty politics with Delhiites water. Delhi was getting this water for 22 yrs. Suddenly, present BJP govt of Haryana drastically reduced this supply. Why? Pl don’t make people suffer due to ur dirty politics,” Kejriwal said reacting to a report that Manohar Lal Khattar government in Haryana does not want to give more 60 cusec of water to the national capital.
Kejriwal has been a bitter rival of the Congress party but ever since the BJP came to power at the Centre in 2014, he has shifted his focus to PM Modi.
There is, however, no love lost between the AAP and Congress' Delhi unit which has protested against the Delhi government on all issues. But the rivalry did not stop the Chief Minister from congratulating Delhi Congress chief Ajay Maken's son for his good performance in the CBSE Class 10 examination.
