The PM also tasked the members to increase the vote share of the party to 50 per cent making use of the Narendra Modi app.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has asked all the seven morchas or wings of the party to tap into people not aligned to the right wing ideology of cultural nationalism and associate them with the morchas before attempting to make them full-fledged members of the BJP. Bharatiya Janata Party national president Amit Shah was also present at the meet.
The PM also tasked the members to increase the vote share of the party to 50 per cent making use of the Narendra Modi app.
PM Modi unveiled this strategic move at the meeting of the national executives of all the seven wings of BJP — catering to youth, women, SC, ST, minorities, OBC and farmers — in New Delhi on Thursday afternoon. This was the first time when all the morchas and their executives came under the same roof.
According to highly placed sources (the event was closed to the media), the PM exhorted the participants to expand the footprints of the ideology by reaching out to the people who were not yet ideologically aligned to the BJP-RSS or belonged to other ideological camps and persuade them to join the morchas.
It must be kept in mind that the BJP morchas, such as Kisan Morcha etc, have a more socialist bent in their programmes and agenda, and thus have the potential to attract members from a diverse range of ideological dispensations.
Sources also told DNA that the other significant highlights of the Prime Minister's address were the underscoring of the success of the experiment during the Karnataka elections when Modi connected to party representatives and members in the state via the NaMo app. The PM said the success of the move could be emulated and repeated in other elections too to reach out to the party's organisation, sources said.
In all, sources added, the meet was about taking the achievements of the party and the Centre to the people keeping in view the approaching general elections of 2019.
Nearly 800 functionaries of the of party' wings participated.
In the meeting attended by over 800 morcha members in New Delhi, the Prime Minister also asked them to use the NaMo app and increase the vote share of the party to 50 per cent.
