"We welcome any action taken in favour of the nation," he added.

Prime Minister Modi left on a day-long visit to Jammu and Kashmir earlier in the day. He began the day with a visit to Siachen in Jammu and Kashmir, the world's highest battlefield. He is the first Prime Minister to visit Siachen in 10 years.

After spending some time with the soldiers, he will go to Srinagar to spend Diwali with the people affected by the last month's flood. He will reportedly review rehabilitation measures and visit a relief camp. Prime Minister Modi is expected to announce a central package for the flood victims before flying back to Delhi in the evening.

The Prime Minister is likely to meet delegations from various sections of the society at Raj Bhavan in Srinagar.
