PM Narendra Modi on Friday inaugurated a petrochemical project in Dibrugarh in Assam, a first-ever such project in the northeast. The project is India's highest wax producing unit using indigenous technology.
PM Modi on Friday is on a three-day visit to Assam, Andhra Pradesh and Odisha.
After the inauguration, he said, "I don't think I should have the opportunity to inaugurate these projects. This should have been done long ago. The development of eastern parts of India is a core priority for our Government because that is the way to all-round development. The nation will not develop if north-east does not develop. And it is one of our priorities."
"When projects get delayed cost also increases, added PM Modi.
He is set to inaugurate 12th South Asian Games in Guwahati besides addressing tea workers at Moran. "Will inaugurate 12th South Asian Games in Guwahati. I welcome all athletes from SAARC nations who are participating in the games. Looking forward to addressing tea workers at Moran and attending 85th Annual Conference of Srimanta Sankaradeva Sangha at Sibsagar," The Prime Minister tweeted.
"In Dibrugarh will inaugurate first ever petrochemical project in Northeast and India's highest wax producing unit using indigenous technology," he added. In Odisha, the Prime Minister will dedicate the National Institute of Science Education and Research and Indian Oil Refinery Paradip to the nation.
On Saturday, he will attend the international fleet review and maritime exhibition in Visakhapatnam where he will again return on Sunday and address the gathering. "Will offer prayers at the Jagannath Temple in Puri during my Odisha visit on the 7th," Prime Minister Modi tweeted.
