1. ICG is not a part of the Indian Paramilitary Forces but is an Armed Forces of India that has primary duties to check poaching, smuggling and other illegal activities; to conduct search and rescue operations; to protect and preserve marine environment.
2. ICG is world’s fourth largest coast guard.
3. The ships of ICG are different from those of Navy.
4. They consider the preservation of the maritime environment while ensuring the prevention and control of marine pollution.
5. Indian Coast Guard aids and protects the fishermen. It also has the duty to check and investigate foreign fishermen fishing in our water.
