PM Modi celebrates Diwali with soldiers in J&K's Gurez, calls them his 'family'
Army chief General Bipin Rawat, Northern Command chief Lt General Devraj Anbu and Chinar Corps Commander Lt Gen J S Sandhu were also in Gurez accompanying the prime minister, an Army official said.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday celebrated Diwali in the Gurez valley along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir with the troops posted in the forward area.
The Prime Minister spent nearly two hours with the troops and offered sweets and exchanged greetings with them. Addressing jawans, the PM said he too wishes to spend Diwali with his family. Therefore, he had come among jawans, whom he considers his family.
The PM also said that jawans who leave Armed Forces after completing their duty tenure, can become excellent yoga trainers subsequently.
"If we all take a resolution and work on it, then 125 crore Indians will bring India ahead by 125 crore steps by 2022, 75th year of Independence," the PM said.

Modi had spent Diwali with the people of Kashmir in 2014 in the aftermath of the devastating floods in the Valley.
