The incident took place when the girl rushed towards Modi’s cavalcade when he was returning from the inauguration function of a Diamond Manufacturing Unit of Hare Krishna Exports at ‘Hira Bourse SEZ’ in Icchapore village on the city’s outskirts.

Interestingly, the Prime Minister not only asked the driver to stop the car, but also ordered security officials to call the girl.

Reportedly, PM Modi asked a BJP councillor to bring Nancy Gondalia to his car and spoke to her. Her father who was standing at some distance also accompanied her.

Reports said that Modi asked her name and the time while pointing towards her wrist watch.

On Sunday, Gujarat’s diamond city witnessed the biggest roadshow in its history.

Crowds thronged the entire 11-km stretch from Surat airport to Circuit House in Athwalines to catch a glimpse of the PM, who was coming from Bhubaneswar, where he attended the BJP’s national executive meeting and received a rousing welcome during a roadshow on Saturday.

He also inaugurated the Rs 400- crore Kiran Multi Super Speciality Hospital and Research Centre, built by Samast Patidar Arogya Trust, in the Katargam area of the city.
