BAGDORA(WB):Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Saturday hoped "good sense" will prevail among all sides to ensure the India-US civil nuclear deal is made operational.

Talking to reporters after a two-day visit to Bhutan, Manmohan Singh referred to recent statements by former president A.P.J. Abdul Kalam and former national security advisor Brajesh Mishra and reiterated the nuclear cooperation will not compromise India's sovereignty.

"There is near unanimity among the scientific community on the nuclear deal. This deal will protect our strategic interests," he said.

The nuclear deal has been in limbo as the Left parties that support the Manmohan Singh government from outside have raised objections to it even as the main opposition Bharatiya Janata party (BJP) also remains opposed to it.
