Perambalur Lok Sabha Election Results 2019: Polls in Perambalur constituency was held on April 18 in the second phase of Lok Sabha election 2019. 38 out of 39 parliamentary constituencies in Tamil Nadu voted in the second phase of the general elections.

AIADMK’s NR Sivapathy and DMK’s T Paarivendhar were the key candidates in the fray in 2019 elections. 

Final Result: DMK's Dr. TR Paarivendhar trumps over NR Sivapathy of the AIADMK by a margin of 403518 votes.

Perambalur Lok Sabha constituency profile

AIADMK's RP Marutharajaa was the sitting MP who defeated DMK's S Prabhu Seemanur in 2014 with a margin of more than 2 lakh votes. 

The two major parties in Tamil Nadu — AIADMK and DMK — entered into an alliance with a number of parties for the forthcoming elections. 
 
AIADMK contested the election in alliance with BJP, PMK, DMDK, Tamil Maanila Congress, Puthia Tamizagam, Puthia Needhi Katchi and NR Congress whereas the DMK aligned with Congress, CPI(M), CPI, MDMK, VCK, IUML, KMDK and IJK.  

Since both AIADMK and DMK aligned with a number of parties for the upcoming elections, the two directly contested against each other in only 8 seats. 

Tamil Nadu has a total of 39 parliamentary constituencies where 7 of them including Sriperumbudur, Chidambaram, Rasipuram, Pollachi, Perambalur, Tenkasi, and Nagapattinam have been reserved for candidates representing scheduled caste community. However, no seat here has been reserved for Scheduled Tribes.

Going by the 2011 Census data, Perambalur district has a total population of over 564,000. Out of this 49% comprises females and 51% comprises of males. 75% is the average literacy rate here with English and Tamil being the two major languages spoken here.

Perambalur Lok Sabha results in 2014, 2009 and 2004 

2014: RP Marutharajaa of the AIADMK received 462693 votes and he defeated S Prabhu Seemanur of the DMK who only got 24964 votes.

2009: D Napoleon of the DMK received 398742 votes. He defeated K.K. Balasubramanian of the AIADMK who only got 32113 votes. It was a huge margin victory. 

2004: A Raja of the DMK received 389708 votes. He defeated Dr M Sundaram of the ADMK who only got 236375 votes. 

The state of Tamil Nadu has 39 parliamentary constituencies out of which seven are reserved for SCs (Sriperumbudur, Chidambaram, Rasipuram, Pollachi, Perambalur, Tenkasi, and Nagapattinam). However, no seat is reserved for Scheduled Tribes in the state. 

In 2019, EC had cancelled the election in Vellore constituency after a large sum of cash was allegedly seized from a DMK candidate's office in Vellore, therefore, out of 39, polling took place in 38 Lok Sabha constituencies only.
