Dripping sarcasm, Banerjee questioned whether the CPI(M) was following 'Leftism' or 'harmardism'.
Questioning chief minister Buddhadeb Bhattacherjee objecting to the word 'harmard' to denote CPI(M) workers in home minister P Chidamabaram's letter, Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee said on Thursday that those who killed and attacked people could be described as such.
"What else will the people call you? They will definitely not call you Pitamaha Bhisma of Mahabharata," Banerjee retorted to the CPI(M) at a party rally in Dum Dum on the northern outskirts.
Dripping sarcasm, she questioned whether the CPI(M) was following 'Leftism' or 'harmardism'.
"What are you pursuing? Why are you angry over the use of the word harmard (hired killers) in the home minister's letter when you are taking up guns and using bombs against your political opponents?"
Claiming that police rifles were being handed over to harmards, she said, "Even yesterday three more armed camps came up."
She alleged that the Marxist party was manufacturing landmines and bombs at Rajharhat, a new township adjacent to the metropolis where she has alleged that a scam has taken place during acquisition of land.
"You have built up a harmard vahini, but we will not counter you similarly," she said, adding that her party would bring change in West Bengal with the people sure to reject the Marxists in the assembly elections next year which would be dedicated to 'Ma, Mati and Manush' (Mother, Land and People).
