Paying electricity bills will no more be a hassle for consumers in Uttar Pradesh with Any Time Payment (ATP) machines being installed at various places in the city.

"To facilitate consumers, UP Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) has decided to introduce ATP machines, where people can pay their electricity bills through cheques or cash anytime," an official said here today.

UPPCL chairman-cum-managing director Navneet Sehgal will inaugurate the first ATP machine in the state capital tomorrow, he said.

"Initially, the machine would operate between 8 am and 8 pm, which would be extended upto 24 hours depending upon the response," they said.

In the first phase, the machines will be installed at 10 places in the city and later the project will be extended to other cities.

The machine will accept payments in round figures only, he said.

The UPPCL had tied up with a Bengalaru-based company to launch the ATP machine facility, which is already available in Karnataka and Gujarat, he said.
