RANCHI: A fire broke out in the parcel van of a Howrah-bound Express train at a railway station about 55 km from here, railway sources said on Sunday.

The fire broke out around midnight last night when the Hatia-Howrah Express reached Mur station, the sources added.

The parcel van was detached and the spread of flames to other coaches was averted, they said.

The train soon proceeded on its onward journey. Investigations are on to find out the cause of the fire.
