Parbhani Lok Sabha constituency: Candidates for 2019 LS poll, past results, all updates

Parbhani seat in Marathwada is one of the bastions of Shiv Sena. From 1989, barring once in 1998, Sena has dominated the field here. But this time Shiv Sena candidate sitting MP Sanjay Bandu Jadhav is facing a tough fight against NCP's young nominee Rajesh Vitekar, who is former Parbhani Zilla President. 

While Sena has won back to back elections, it rarely repeated candidates. So Sanjay Jadhav getting ticket was a surprise to some. According to reports, Jadhav is facing a fair amount of anti-incumbency and several leaders within the party may not be giving their best to get him re-elected. Jadhav has also been pulled by EC for allegedly publishing paid articles in local media. 

NCP candidate Vitekar has been focussing on agrarian distress looking to corner BJP government in state and centre. There is a significant percentage of Muslim voters in Parbhani. Presence of Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi's Gulmir Khan may split the minority votes thus helping the Sena candidate. All total there are 17 candidates in fray and 19.80 lakh voters will determine their fate on April 18. The assembly segments under Parbhani are: Jintur, Parbhani, Pathri, Partur, Ghansawangi and Gangakhed.
