The intelligence agencies have alerted about Pakistan’s nefarious plot of reviving Jaish-e-Mohammed’s (JeM) camp in Balakot under a new name to send a fresh wave of terrorists to destabilise Jammu and Kashmir and other sensitive targets in India, including Gujarat and Maharashtra.

This same camp located in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa region of Pakistan was bombed by the Indian Air force on February 26 in retaliation to the Pulwama bombing in which more than 40 Central Reserve Police Force jawans were killed while travelling on a bus.

Confirming the inputs received from the assets based in Pakistan, Intelligence sources said, Pakistan’s Army and inter-services intelligence (ISI) took this decision as a response to India’s decision to abrogate Article 370 and bifurcate the state into two Union territories. The camp is reported to have recruited about 120 fresh groups of terrorists to train them in high altitude and suicidal attacks.

FRESH GROUPS

  • Pakistan based groups were asked to activate Kashmir based assets to create trouble in the valley

  • ISI also activated the launching pads located in areas close to the LoC and started amassing terrorists there in the guise of local inhabitants

Earlier, intelligence agencies had alerted the Indian security establishment that Pakistan’s deep state had set in motion the plan to reactivate terror groups almost immediately after the Indian parliament gave its nod to revoke provisions of Article 370 and 35A paving the way of full integration of Jammu and Kashmir into India.

The very next day, the ISI called Jaish’s commander Mufti Abdul Rauf Asghar to discuss a “befitting” response to India’s move in Jammu and Kashmir. In the immediate aftermath (till the time new terror recruits could be sent), Pakistan based groups were asked to activate Kashmir based assets to create trouble in the valley.

Simultaneously, ISI also activated the launching pads located in areas close to the line of control (LoC) and started amassing terrorists there in the guise of local inhabitants.
