Pak General defence analyst Lt. General Talat Masood says that Modi's election could work either way. Meanwhile, Pakistani prime minister Nawaz Sharif was prompt in calling up Modi and congratulating him for his win in the Lok Sabha elections.

Nawaz also invited Modi to visit Pakistan, indicating that the nation is prepared to brush aside any negative fallout of his thumping win on the relationship between the two neighbours, the Express Tribune reported. It is however reported that privately, Pakistani officials are increasingly apprehensive of Modi's victory as they fear that he may not do much to ensure the region's stability.
